C-section scar therapy in Wigan

Gentle, hands-on care that helps your scar — and you — feel more like you again.

A scar can carry more than a memory of your birth or surgery. Tightness, numbness, pulling or a strange disconnection from your own middle are all common, and all worth caring for. My scar therapy is gentle, hands-on treatment that helps your body settle, soften and heal — so you can reconnect with your core and feel at home in your body again.

Whether your C-section was six weeks or six years ago, you're welcome here in my warm Wigan studio, where every session is unhurried, respectful and tailored to you.

What it is

Gentle, hands-on care once your scar has healed

Scar therapy is a gentle, focused treatment for C-section and other scars once they have fully healed. Using light, respectful hands-on techniques, I work with the scar and the tissue around it to ease tightness and restriction, encourage healthy movement, and help you feel more comfortable and connected in your body.

My aim is always for you to feel heard, supported and genuinely cared for. There's no rush and no pressure — just calm, evidence-based care that meets you exactly where you are in your recovery.

How it helps

What scar therapy can do for you

Gentle work, meaningful change — helping your scar soften and your confidence return.

Every scar and every recovery is different, but many of the women I see notice real, welcome changes as we work together over a few sessions.

  • Eases tightness and pulling in and around the scar
  • Calms sensitivity, tenderness or numbness in the area
  • Softens adhesions where healing tissue has bound together
  • Reduces restriction so you can move more freely and comfortably
  • Helps you reconnect with your core and feel confident in your body again

When to start

From around six weeks once your scar has healed

As a general guide, scar therapy is suitable from around six weeks after birth or surgery, once your scar has fully healed and you've been given the all-clear to be touched in that area. If you're unsure whether you're ready, get in touch and we can talk it through gently before you book.

And if your scar is older, please don't think you've missed your chance — you haven't. Older C-section and surgical scars respond beautifully to therapy, often even years later. It's never too late to help your body feel more comfortable and connected.

Who it's for

Scars I support

Scar therapy can help whether your scar is recent or long-established. I work with women from across Wigan and nearby Standish, Shevington, Orrell and Aspull who want to feel more comfortable, mobile and reconnected with their core.

  • C-section (caesarean) scars, recent or from years ago
  • Other healed surgical scars affecting comfort or movement
  • Older scars that still feel tight, sensitive or restrictive
  • Anyone feeling disconnected from their middle after surgery or birth

Kind words

Trusted by women across Wigan

Kind words from women I've had the privilege to support.

I went to Jenny for a postnatal appointment after my second c-section. She was really helpful and I felt like I was being cared for and assessed properly unlike the general postnatal follow up at my GP surgery!

I would definitely recommend seeking treatment and support from Jenny following pregnancy / birth. During the post natal check, she was thorough and extremely approachable.

Questions

Scar therapy — your questions answered

When can I book The Natal Check after having my baby?

You're welcome from around six weeks after birth, once you've had your GP check. It's just as valuable months or even years on, so it's never too late to book.

What does The Natal Check involve?

It's a thorough postnatal check assessing your tummy muscles (diastasis recti), pelvic floor, posture, breathing and any scar. The pelvic floor assessment is external only — there is no internal examination. Together we build a personalised recovery plan tailored to you.

Do I need to be recently postnatal to benefit?

Not at all. Whether your baby is six weeks or several years old, your body can still respond beautifully. Many women come to me long after birth and see real improvements.

When can I start C-section or scar therapy?

Usually from around six weeks, once your scar has fully healed. Older scars respond well too, so gentle, hands-on scar therapy can help even years later.

What can scar therapy help with?

Gentle scar therapy can ease tightness, sensitivity, adhesions and restriction around C-section and other scars, helping you feel more comfortable and reconnect with your core.

What are the benefits of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD)?

MLD is a light, rhythmic massage that supports your lymphatic system, helping to reduce swelling and fluid retention and aid post-surgical and postnatal recovery, while supporting your overall wellbeing.

Is 1:1 Pilates suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Beginners are very welcome. Every private session is tailored to you, so we start exactly where you are and build strength and confidence at your own pace.

Is Pilates safe during pregnancy?

Yes. My 1:1 antenatal Pilates uses gentle, clinical APPI methods tailored to each stage of pregnancy, always working in line with your midwife or GP's guidance so you feel safe and supported.

Can Pilates help during perimenopause or menopause?

Yes, it's one of my favourite things to support. Tailored 1:1 Pilates helps you build strength, stability and confidence through perimenopause and menopause, so you feel your very best.

Where is the studio and how do I book?

I'm based at Waterway House, Suite 2, Canal Street, Wigan, WN6 7NQ, easy to reach from Standish, Shevington, Orrell and Aspull. Just choose 'Request an Appointment' or get in touch to arrange your visit.
