The Natal Check — your postnatal check in Wigan
A thorough, unhurried postnatal check to understand how your body has recovered after birth — and a clear, personalised plan for what comes next.
The Natal Check is where so many women begin their recovery with me — a warm, one-to-one appointment to understand how your body is healing after pregnancy and birth, whatever your birth story and however long ago it was.
Together we'll look at how you're moving, breathing and feeling, and I'll build you a recovery plan that's tailored to your individual needs — so you can feel stronger, more confident and empowered in your body again.

What is The Natal Check?
The Natal Check is a thorough postnatal assessment, designed to give you a clear picture of how your body has recovered after having a baby. It's a full, head-to-toe look at the areas most affected by pregnancy and birth: your tummy muscles, pelvic floor, posture and breathing, along with any scar. The pelvic floor assessment is external only — there is no internal examination at any point.
Pregnancy and birth ask an enormous amount of your body, and recovery rarely happens on its own timetable. This check gives you real answers about what's going on beneath the surface, so you can move forward feeling informed, confident and supported rather than guessing.
My BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy training, together with specialist postnatal study, means every part of your check is grounded in a genuine understanding of anatomy and recovery — expert, evidence-based care, delivered with warmth.
Women I've had the privilege to support
I went to Jenny for a postnatal appointment after my second c-section. She was really helpful and I felt like I was being cared for and assessed properly unlike the general postnatal follow up at my GP surgery!
I attended a postnatal check with Jenny. I found her very knowledgeable and gained lots of useful advice and tips to support my recovery. I would highly recommend.
I would definitely recommend seeking treatment and support from Jenny following pregnancy / birth. During the post natal check, she was thorough and extremely approachable.
Jenny's knowledge and expertise have given me guidance and confidence in how to give my body the best chance of recovery following pregnancy and a difficult labour. It is fantastic to have such support when new mums need it most.
I started seeing Jenny 6 weeks after having my second child doing 1-1 Pilates sessions then later beginners Pilates classes. I had suffered with lower back/pelvic pain from quite early on in my pregnancy…
Perfect service! Since giving birth I had hip, back, and leg issues. Jenny's got me to a point I can move so much more freely and pain free, and interact with my baby easier than I would have without her help.
I have dealt with Jenny on numerous occasions … most recently for c section scar recovery! Jenny is always professional and understanding. She listens to your issues and concerns and also takes into consideration what your goals are. Throughout all my visits I have felt comfortable and I can't wait to move forward in my journey in motherhood and movement with Jenny in my corner ensuring my body moving correctly!
Just had a lymphatic drainage massage with Jenny. It was amazing and can't recommend it enough. Had a few months with fatigue and energy level problems…
Jenny is absolutely amazing and has really helped me with my recovery and the ongoing pain I am experiencing. Her knowledge and understanding, as well as her professional support, make all the difference in aiding your recovery and easing your pain. I can strongly recommend her!
Jenny was nothing short of amazing, from the first phone call to each session, she is friendly and professional and put me at ease from the start. The treatment I've had has been so effective.
What I assess
In your appointment I carefully and gently check:
- Tummy muscles — assessing for diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and how well your deep core is reconnecting
- Pelvic floor — an external assessment only, looking at strength, function and any symptoms you may be living with, such as leaks or heaviness
- Posture — seeing how pregnancy and caring for your baby have changed the way you hold and move your body
- Breathing — how your breath, core and pelvic floor work together as one connected system
- Scar — a gentle check of any C-section or other scar for tightness, sensitivity, adhesions or restriction

When to book your check
Many women come to see me from around six weeks after birth, once you've had your GP check and feel ready. It's an ideal moment to understand your recovery and begin rebuilding safely, with the right guidance from the start.
But there's no deadline. The Natal Check is just as valuable months or even years on — whether your baby is six weeks or six years old. If your postnatal recovery has never been properly checked, or you're still living with symptoms you've been told to simply 'put up with', it's never too late to get answers.
What happens in your appointment
Your appointment is unhurried and completely centred on you. Here's how it works:

I explain what I've found in plain, reassuring language, so nothing feels like a mystery
-
You leave with a plan
a personalised recovery programme tailored to your body, your goals and your life

Your personalised recovery plan
No two bodies — and no two births — are the same, so your plan is never one-size-fits-all. Depending on what I find, it might include gentle exercises to reconnect your core and pelvic floor, guidance on posture and breathing, scar therapy, or one-to-one Pilates to rebuild strength at a pace that feels right for you.
Everything is designed around you, so you leave knowing exactly what to do next — and feeling genuinely supported every step of the way. The Natal Check sits alongside my other women's health treatments, which you're welcome to explore any time.
A calm, reassuring space
If you're feeling nervous, please don't be. My studio is a warm, welcoming environment where you can feel heard, supported and genuinely cared for. There's no judgement and no rush — just gentle, expert care from someone whose passion is helping women feel their very best, inside and out.
You're always in control of your appointment, and we only ever go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Who it's for
The Natal Check is for every mum who wants to understand and support her recovery — whether you've had a straightforward birth or a difficult one, a vaginal delivery or a C-section, your first baby or your fourth. I welcome women from across Wigan and nearby Standish, Shevington, Orrell and Aspull into the studio.
It's especially reassuring if you're noticing a tummy gap that won't seem to close, leaks when you cough, sneeze or exercise, a heaviness or dragging sensation, back or pelvic aches, or simply a sense that you're not quite yourself yet. These things are common after birth — but common doesn't mean you have to live with them.
